1 To establish responsibilities for the costs of drainage and/or irrigation improvements for the benefit of private properties in the Dyking, Drainage and Irrigation Districts.
3 (1) The costs of works to improve drainage from, or improve the supply of irrigation water to a single property, shall be borne by the applicants.
(2) The costs of works to improve drainage from more than one property may be shared by the property owners and the Dyking, Drainage and Irrigation District, depending on budgets and overall benefit. All requests for sharing of the costs of the specified works shall be in writing to the appropriate DDI committee to consider.
(3) The costs of works to improve the supply of irrigation water to more than one property shall be the responsibility of the affected property owners. All requests for approval of the proposed works shall be in writing to the appropriate DDI committee to consider.
(4) If recommended by the DDI Committee, and approved by Council, applicants may be permitted to undertake the works under the inspection of the City. A Street Excavation Permit shall be required for all works in road allowances or public rights-of-way.
(5) Where applicants retain the City to undertake the works, the property owners shall be required to agree, in writing, to be responsible for all costs associated with the works.
